Day 4- Blogging To Grow Your MLM

Sharing is caring!

Welcome to Day 4 of How to Start a blog to grow a MLM business 5 Day Course.

Day 4- How to grow your traffic and followers

First I want to say, You don't need a million followers or page views to make money blogging or to use blogging to grow your MLM. The key to making blogging work for you is finding your target audience and solving their problems. Once you can show them their pain points and how your MLM can help them they become followers and eventually they may even enroll under you in your MLM.

Increasing your followers, reach and gaining page views is important. It does help increase the money you can make, but it takes work and consistency.

How to find and get to know your target market

Google makes this so simple for us and it's FREE! Knowing your audience and how they react to your blog will be key. Google helps us out with this by giving us a free tool called Google Analytics. If you are serious about blogging this is a MUST have tool and it is very simple to install.

The only requirement is having a google account which is free. Check out this link to see simple beginner step by step instructions on how to install google analytics to your blog. These are the same instructions I used when I set up my blog.

Google Analytics will give you up to the minute information on who is visiting your blog, where they are coming from and how they are interacting with your blog. This information is key because it tells you what posts are working for you, and knowing your audience helps you plan out future post.

Action Step 1- Install Google Analytics to your Blog

**Some of the links below contain affiliate links. I personally use these products and count them as something I can't live without for managing blog and running my MLM business. By clicking on the links I may receive a commission at no cost from you.

How to Increase your page views

There are many different ways to increase the number of page views you receive so you can make money blogging.

Here are my tips:

1) Publish high-quality post I learned early on that most people don't want my life story. They want a solution to their problem and they want it fast. My posts are between 500-2000 words. I also include at least one, storytelling image related to the post. My goal is to give information that they are looking for and not a lot of fluff. I do believe in sharing a story but I try and keep it short and to the point. I find this keeps them coming back for more. Worried you are not a great writer? Guess what, I'm not that great either but I use the free app Grammarly when I write and it catches my mistakes as I write.

2) Get involved on Pinterest– I LOVE Pinterest. I could spend hours surfing and dreaming of how my life could be. Pinterest is the third largest search engine and is a barely tapped market for MLM businesses. If done right it can sky rocket your blog and business. Pinterest is by far my biggest traffic source. My suggestion is to convert your pinterest account from a regular user to a business account. A business account is free and it will give you Pinterest analytics. Best of all it will enable your pins to become Rich Pins. Here is a link to my favorite Pinterest Guru, Kate Ahl. In this blog post, she goes step by step in explaining how to set up Rich Pins on your blog. You can use Canva to create your pinnable images for free and then I use Tailwind to schedule all my Pins. I use tailwind because I am so busy there is no way I can be on pinterest and pinning my pins at the exact time my target market is on Pinterest. Tailwind allows me to preschedule my pins so that tailwind is pinning them at the optimum time my followers are cruising pinterest. Tailwind offers a great free trial where you can schedule up to 100 pins for pinterest and 30 post on instagram. I strongly suggest giving it a try. signing up for Tailwind gives you access to Tailwind tribes which will help skyrocket your reach. Plus using tailwind allows your business to work for you while you are busy with life. A 100 pins should last you about 4 weeks at pinning around 4 pins a day. I personally pin around 10 pins a day, 5 of those being my blog pins and the rest pins that my target market would like.

**Want a quick and effective way to learn how to Master Pinterest and how to Master Tailwind? If you are like me time is crucial I don't have a lot of it. What time I do have is split between trying to build a blog, build my MLM business and keep my family healthy, fed and happy. So I'm super picky about which courses I'm willing to invest my time and money in. All of the Courses offered by Simple Pin Media are amazing. I took the Master Tailwind Course after months of trying to figure out tailwind all by myself. I was doing pretty good on tailwind but I knew I could even do better with the right strategy in place. The course took me 45 mins to take and in one week of implementing the strategies my Pinterest impressions skyrocketed and my blog traffic increased. The best part is I'm now saving hours of pinning work by using their strategy. To me this is a HUGE win and one of the best investments I've made in blogging courses in a long time. Wish I had made the investment a year ago.

Action step 2- Create a Business Pinterest account and set up RIch Pins for your account and sign up for your free Tailwind Trial

3) Get active on other Social Media Sites- You don't have to master all of them but I suggest picking 2-3 and becoming active in them building your followers and interacting with your target market. Find out where your target market hangs out and go there. Popular social media networking sites include- Facebook, Twitter, StumbleUpon, Periscope, Instagram, Snapchat, Youtube, LinkedIn and others.

Action Step 3- Select 2-3 Social Media Sites and begin to interact and connect with followers. Be personable. Don't just try and sell them something.

4) Post Regularly– Your goal if your wanting to make money and grow your MLM is to post weekly. Believe me this is sometimes so hard to do. If you can't do weekly then bi-weekly is fine but make sure your post are full of amazing content and your are consistent with whatever schedule you pick to follow. If you are not consistent you risk losing blog readers.

Seeing your just starting your blog I suggest creating 6-12 blog post before you ever go live. I'd do a ratio of 1 MLM post to 2 niche post. Once you go live with your blog, go live with at least 6-8 post already available and on your blog. Then you can schedule out the others to post weekly. This allows you to have post ready and in the wings so you don't get behind if life gets busy.

Action Step 4- Brainstorm your first posts. Come up with post ideas and possible Headlines.

5) Make sure it’s easy to share your content- When I first started blogging I was so clueless about this. I was scared to ask people to share my content and I thought just having those little tiny buttons all the way at the bottom of my post was the only way to share. Boy was I wrong. I'm so glad I finally had a light bulb moment when I was cruising through all my favorite blogs. They all had one thing in common. Every post was easy to share. Social share buttons were right there at the important parts of the post with call to actions asking me to share. And guess what, I found out I really wanted to share their content and in more places other than Pinterest. That is when I did a ton of research and found Social Warfare and it became a game changer in how my post were shared over night. I use Social Warfare Pro and for $29 a yr this is one of the best investments I've made. It's also a time saver for me when I publish a post. I can go straight to my social warfare buttons and share just like my readers will.

6) Create Headlines that Attract- Until I found this free Headline analyzer by Coschedule I had no clue how bad my headlines were. Now each of my possible headlines gets run thru the analyzer. My goal is to score a 70 or higher on my headline. I found once I started using this tool my social media shares on facebook increased. Headlines make a big impact on if someone clicks over and reads your article so make sure they are catchy and clickable.

7) Learn SEO (search engine optimization)- Relying on just social media to bring traffic to your blog is not a smart plan for the long haul. Remember when MySpace was all the rage? Yeah, I'm not sure it even exists now. My point is learning and apply SEO to your site will help you with search engines like Google and Yahoo. I could spend hours just on this subject alone but I'm seriously no expert. I suggest installing the plugin Yoast SEO they have a free version that I use. I recommend doing some research and working on SEO as you grow your blog.

8) Make it easy for readers to move through your blog- The more your readers move through your blog the more they get to know you and to know your MLM product. Make it easy for them by supplying links to related post you have written. Creating menu items, search bars, categories and tags will also help them search your blog.

9) Network with other bloggers- I find the best way to network is finding blogging groups on FB. There are tons of them. My best suggestion is to not be one of those bloggers who runs into a group, drops a bunch of post links and self promotion and then runs out. Be helpful, even if you are super new to blogging you can help answer questions and even ask some yourself. One of my favorite Blogging Facebook groups is Problogger It's a great group for beginner bloggers and the Owner of the group Darren has an amazing podcast that I listen to weekly.

If you are interested in starting your own blog to support the growth of your MLM business, I created a tutorial that will help you start a blog of your own. Right now the pro plan is on sale! For $3.95/mo this is a great deal, especially seeing you get a free web domain (a $16 value) if you purchase at least 12 months of blog hosting. When looking to build your MLM business by blogging, my top tip is to be self-hosted. I know a lot of MLM companies offer cookie cutter compliant “websites” that you can purchase for a monthly fee but you will appear more professional if you create your own. Plus you will be able to monetize your blog in other ways which can help your MLM business grow faster.
